November Thanks

November is a great month to reflect and remember all the things I sometimes take for granted, but am forever thankful for. I wrote down one thing every day this month:
  1. Family; always there for you
  2. True Friends
  3. Airplanes; making it easy to visit far away friends & family
  4. Always having food in my belly
  5. My health
  6. Technology; keeping me connected to loved ones when we're apart
  7. My fiance
  8. The roof over my head
  9. Church; so glad we found the perfect one
  10. My job; not everyone can say they love their job
  11. Our military & our freedom
  12. Christ giving his life for mine
  13. Being able to wake up and live another day
   14.  Netflix & lazy days spent with KC
   15.  The luxury of being able to go on shopping sprees & having more than enough clothes
   16.  Good weather
   17.  Having a man who supports & encourages me
   18.  Running water
   19.  Taco Bell
   20.  Coffee; some days I'd be useless without caffeine
   21.  Social media; sometimes it's the only way to stay in touch with friends & family
   22.  My MOH; always there no matter what time of day
   23.  3-day work weeks
   24.  Dishwashers
   25.  Laughter
   26.  Turkey
   27.  Good books; it's nice to escape reality every once in awhile
   28.  Weekend getaways
   29.  Electricity
   30.  Leggings

What are you thankful for?

It's Christmas Time!

This year, we decided to do custom photo Christmas cards since we have engagement pictures to use. I'm usually one to procrastinate everything; so the fact that I created and ordered our cards last night, has me excited. I'm on top of the ball this year!

It was so hard picking from the thousands of options, but I finally narrowed it down and then had KC help me pick the winner. Here's the top 3:

I can't wait for them to get here!

Oh Hey, Friday: Indiana

My trip to Indiana last week was the best. However, being in Indiana reminded me of all the things I've forgotten about, since I moved away 6 years ago. For Oh Hey, Friday this week, here's five things I forgot about good ol' Indiana:

ONE. Spiders are EVERYWHERE! I used my brother's car while I was there and every time I went out to leave, I had to kill at least 3 spiders before I could even open the door. It was disgusting. One morning, there was a big one right above the door (pictured below). I ended up killing it with a fly swatter. The other picture is a mini tarantula (at least that's what I called it) in my mom's kitchen! The story of killing that bad boy is a good one. LOL
TWO. Indiana traffic jams consisting of one over-sized tractor taking up the entire road. This happened to me twice during that week, while I was on my way to my sister's house. Luckily, I wasn't in any hurry.

THREE. Spending time with family makes for a wonderful day. I forgot how great it is to wake up and have coffee with my mom, or go to my sister's house for the day and talk with her and/or the kids. It was nice having them 5 minutes away rather than 3,000 miles away.

FOUR. McDonald's breakfast bagel sandwiches. The southwest really needs to learn about these! I forgot just how good they really are. Unfortunately, they aren't on the all day menu, so I had to have my mom pick one up for me since I'm not an early morning person.
FIVE. Wedding planning is so much more fun when you're surrounded by loved ones; friends and family. I had so much fun planning with my mom, my MOH, and shopping with my nieces. They are so much fun now that they're older and it's fun getting to share this with them.

Wedding Wednesday: Bridal Shower

This past Saturday was my Bridal Shower in Indiana. My matron of honor, Katie, and my mom planned and hosted it for me. I was kept in the dark about almost everything until the day of. All I knew was that KC and I had both answered a set of questions from Katie and we didn't see each others answers.
The morning of the shower, Katie came to my mom's (where we had the shower) and I helped them set up and finish getting all the food made/put together. Katie did a great job on the decor! She used teal and coral as the theme/colors and they went perfectly together. So cute!
My sister made the cakes (she's also going to be making our wedding cake). It was beautiful and oh, so delicious! So many people commented on how good the icing was. My mom made most of the food including: BBQ meatballs and sausages, potato salad and chicken salad, cheeseball and a dessert we call goop (my favorite!). We also had a veggie tray and fruit salad. Everything was yummy!!
After everyone ate, we played a few games. First was "How well do you know the Bride?" and of course, my sister won. Next was a "Price is Right" game where you have 3 choices per wedding item and have to guess the average price of the item. One of my mom's friends won that one. I only got ONE right. LOL! The last game was just for me. I had to guess what KC answered for questions about me. I only got 4 wrong out of like 15! I was pretty impressed with myself.
After the games, things started to settle down and people began saying goodbye and leaving. Once almost everyone was gone, I opened gifts. I waited until then for two reasons: 1) I hate opening presents with everyone staring at me & 2) I got mainly cards with gift cards, so that would be pretty boring for the people watching.

All in all, it turned out great! We had a wonderful turn out and it was so much fun. I can't wait to see everyone at the wedding in April!

It's finally time for my trip to Indiana to get some more wedding planning done!
As much as I hate leaving KC behind, I'm excited to get there and start working on wedding details with my family and matron of honor!
I'm also super excited about my bridal shower Saturday!!
If I don't get time to post while I'm there. I will definitely post an update when I get back!
