Thank God it's finally Friday! This week has gone a little too slow for my liking. Here's five things that have been on my mind lately:
ONE. We've been trying to be healthier and get back into shape. I bought an exercise bike and I'm loving it! I try to do 20-30 minutes Monday, Wednesday, & Friday mornings before work. So far, so good.
TWO. Along with exercising and getting back into shape. I started making smoothies. I bought a ton of fruit and threw it in the freezer. I've made quite a few concoctions this week and they were all so yummy! KC even likes them!
THREE. My best friend, Katie and her husband, Travis will get here in ONE month!! I cannot wait for their visit. We are all going to have a blast. And of course, it's always fun to see people's reactions to their first time in Vegas!
FOUR. Yesterday, I booked a weekend getaway for KC and I. In 3 weeks, we are going to Laughlin for a nice relaxing weekend; just the two of us. We haven't gotten away from it all in awhile and with tax season ending, I know we can really use it!
FIVE. This weekend we are spring cleaning! The house really needs it and I finally bought a new vacuum. We will also be cleaning out closets and donating to Savers or Goodwill! Between the two of us, we have WAY to many clothes.
I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

The Great Outdoors
This past Saturday was a beautiful day! The sun was out, the clouds were sparse, and the breeze was perfect. I made KC get dressed and get out of the house with me (it didn't really take much begging). We went to Boulder City to hike the Historic Railroad Trail that I've been wanting to do for about a year now. *side note* We attempted this trail last year, but I drove us to the wrong place and we ended up hiking a different one instead. Oops!*
Here are a few pictures we took:
Other than the wonderful sunburn I got, we have a great time! Can't wait for more hiking in the near future!

Birthday Boy!
Sunday is KC's birthday!! I can't wait to celebrate all weekend with him. Every year, he always tells me not to get him anything, but of course I always do! Someone needs to spoil him. Fortunately, he is super easy to shop for because he likes four main things; hats, watches, cologne, and clothes. That paired with the fact that I know him style and favorite color (red), means he'll always love what I pick out.
We were going to take a weekend trip to San Diego to celebrate (and I've never been), but we waited too long to look into it and hotel prices are outrageous now. *sad-face* Sometimes it's tough being a procrastinator.
Anyway, no matter what we do, I know we're going to have a great time and just enjoy being together. Besides, KC has a free birthday bowl at Genghis Grill (our favorite Mongolian place) so we'll definitely be having dinner there this weekend! Win-win!

Dear Sixteen-year-old Me
Dear sixteen-year-old me,
Enjoy life while you can. Stop wishing to be older and live in the moment. Give second chances and take advantage of being young and all it has to offer. Go on trips with friends, travel to a new town and explore, make new friends. Time slips by too quickly and you'll miss being young one day.
Dear sixteen-year-old me,
Stop using the excuse "I'm too busy". You have no idea what busy means yet. Enjoy your free time. Go out there and take risks, try new things, and make mistakes. Don't be afraid to mess up or get your hands dirty. Don't make the mistake of sheltering yourself. Don't be lazy because it's easy. You'll regret the things you didn't do when you're older. Trust me.
Dear sixteen-year-old me,
Don't get caught up on boys. They aren't worth it. You have more to worry about at this age than having a relationship with some immature boy who will end up just breaking your heart. Don't fall for the first guy that wants your attention. Don't believe any of the lies you're told. You'll eventually learn that boys will tell you anything you want to hear to get them what they want. Be smarter than that and respect yourself. Hold true to what you believe and don't give in to peer pressure. Just because everyone else is doing something, doesn't make it "cool".
Dear sixteen-year-old me,
Hang out with friends. They're the ones who will always be there for you. They won't always live so close and hanging out will get harder to do. Make time to spend with them on a regular basis; don't shut them out when things get tough. And don't worry about the ones that slip away. There will be a lot of these. There's always a reason they aren't making it to your future; don't stress over it. The ones that matter will never turn their backs on you.
Dear sixteen-year-old me,
Don't write off college. You're a smart, young lady and the experience will be good for you. Don't sell yourself short. College is fun; nothing like high school. Apply. I know you'll love it. You need this.
Dear sixteen-year-old me,
Believe it or not, Mom & Dad do know what they're talking about. Listen to them. They're smarter than you think they are. They may not always be right, but they do know a thing or two. Respect them, no matter what happens. They've been in your shoes before. Hang out with them often; you'll miss this. Remember-- family is everything. They will always be there to catch you when you fall. And you will fall.
Dear sixteen-year-old me,
Don't be scared. Don't fear life. No one gets out alive anyway. Let others in and don't be too guarded. You will lose a lot of good things by being too protected. It'll hurt, but you'll learn many new things about yourself that will only make you a stronger, independent individual. Things will happen that you won't understand, but always know God will never hand you more than you can handle. This world is much bigger than you could ever imagine. Many great things are out there waiting on you. Don't be blind to the things around you. Don't just hang on for the ride, take hold of it and get out of it everything you possibly can. Life is the greatest adventure you will ever be able to take. Don't waste a single moment of it. Don't get to the end with a list of things you wish you would have done. Arrive at the end ready, with the scars you acquired along the way, with a sense of satisfaction, and knowing that you LIVED your life exactly the way you wanted.
Sincerely,
I've learned a lot I wish I'd known when I was sixteen
